Whoa! Sugar!

10 months. Roland and I have been eating a plant based non processed diet for 10 months. Well, make that a little less than 10 months. I let sugar back in. Ack!

I just slowly let it happen. And this is how I feel:

  • moody
  • mucus-y
  • tired
  • distracted
  • out of control
  • I have an appetite for sugar (and it makes me think about sugar a lot)
Amazingly I haven't gained a pound. In fact I've lost a pound. But I feel yucky. So starting today I quit sugar. Who am I kidding? I'll probably have some goodies at Christmas but the deal is that I am not going to let it into my daily diet. I know I will feel better once the sugar  is gone.

It's my Christmas present to myself.

I've been wondering about you nutrarians. Because I was eating moderately, losing a pound a week for 6 weeks and even managed thanksgiving and the first 10 days of December. And then: sugar mania marathon! I feel awful. Crabby bloated not-wanting-to-exercise headachy. I'm trying to get back on track. I wondered how hard the holidays were for you...

sugar is a comfort, until it gets to our joints. What is interesting for me is that honey & sweets made with honey on't effect me that way. Glad I can enjoy it occasionally. . . .wouldn't it be just awful to be type 2 diabetic. We must eat correctly 90% of the time to avoid that in the future, I think.

i have also been mnore generous with my crap intake. people bring by all these goodies, i'm out so often that i grab a fast food meal; it's disgusting and i feel gross inside. i feel like i want to brush my teeth all the time. for me, so much of it comes down to time management and laziness. i fail miserably at both during the holidays.

I have been known on more than one occasion to take a very thoughtful plate of fudge from a neighbor, say out loud to myself, "Dear Neighbor, I thank you for this fudge, it reprensents that you have thought about me, and care about my family. I thank you for your thoughtfulness." and then throw the fudge in the trash, and take the trash outside.

If it's really the thought that counts, it's ok to dispose of goodies. I know there's something inheritly wrong with throwing away food, but it's better than the alternative, which is eating calories which are unessary for sustaining life and will make you feel awful.

Kory - (h20) Awesome comment. You just gave me permission to toss the goodies. Actually most everyone knows I am eating healthy so we haven't really been given many goodies. But still, such a great comment.
